Edy Ganem found her calling. She should do a lot of romantic comedies because she’s good at these types of movies.

For the film In Other Words it has the perfect plot for a romantic comedy. Boy meets girl. The boy falls in love with a girl. The girl can’t communicate with the boy. A friend helps the boy talk to the girl. What could possibly happen?

In this lost in translation movie it stars Bryan McClure (Mindhunter), Edy Ganem (Devious Maids), Natasha Esca (Narcos: Mexico), and Chris Kattan (Saturday Night Live). Patrick Perez Vidauri directed the film from a script written by Cristina Nava.

The film is described as a cross between Like Water for Chocolate and Sideways. The inspiration came by the wine country in Baja California’s Valle de Guadalupe.

Here’s the synopsis:

In Other Words is a romantic comedy about a tech geek who lands an investor for his matchmaking app. But when his app matches him with a beautiful girl who doesn’t speak English, he travels with his buddies to wine country in Baja California, Mexico, to prove his algorithm isn’t screwy.

LRM Online interviewed actress Edy Ganem via Zoom earlier this week about her role in the movie. We talked about wineries, food, and love.

Ganem is best known as Valentina Diaz for a few seasons on Lifetime Channel’s Devious Maids. She starred in several indie films, including Ana Maria in Novela Land that became a favorite in the Latino community. Also, she had appearances as Sofia in the popular comedy CBS’s The Neighborhood. Over the summer, she was in sci-fi comedy Useless Humans about a group of friends fighting back against an alien. She’ll be seen in Charlie Day-directed film El Tonto with Travis Fimmel and Kate Beckinsale.

In Other Words is available On Digital and On Demand today with plans to air on HBO Latino in February 2021.
