Emily Ruhl on Love at First Date in Blue Moon Short Film [Exclusive Interview]

Emily Ruhl saw an opportunity to write and direct her first short film with Blue Moon. And she knew these opportunities don’t come along too often.

In her directing debut, Ruhl put together this small project to tell a tale about two women going on a date in Los Angeles that ended up being something better in the end.

The short film stars Olivia Berris and Audra Rae Thornton.

LRM Online’s Gig Patta spoke with writer and director Emily Ruhl on pulling all the ingredients to launch this short film project. She talked about the origins of the story to recruiting the actresses and to the challenges she faced as a first-time director.

Emily Ruhl started in the modeling industry at a young age. She appeared in Teen Vogue, Marie Claire, WWD, Seventeen Magazine, Nylon, Oyster Magazine, Elle Canada, and Flare Canada. Also, she represented many cosmetic companies, including Smashbox, Too Faced, KKW Beauty, and MAC. Her acting debut came in Newness starring opposite to Nicholas Hoult and premiered at the Sundance Film Festival. She made a cameo appearance in Troian Bellisario’s short film Life on Mars.
