Emma Stone Was Marvel’s First Choice For Sue Storm But Too Expensive | Barside Buzz

Emma Stone Marvel's first choice for Sue Storm in Fantastic Four. However, Oscar winning actress too expensive. Barside Buzz!

According to the latest Barside Buzz, Emma Stone was Marvel’s first choice for Sue Storm in Fantastic Four. However, the Oscar winning actress fee was just too expensive in an ensemble cast. In the latest edition of The Hot Mic, co-host Jeff Sneider big rumory/scopp of the day was his Emma Stone story.

Sneider says in the video linked above that Sue Storm is the key to Fantastic Four. As such Marvel were looking for the biggest name they could for Sue. They therefore went to a Disney favorite in Emma Stone, which was top choice for around 72 hours. However, Sneider says Stone was looking for around $20M for Fantastic Four, and the studio decided they could not afford to go that high.

Sneider says he does not think current favorite Margot Robbie can even command that fee and neither can hot favorite for Reed Richards, Adam Driver. As for who has the role, Sneider either isn’t saying or hasn’t heard, I would suggest the latter as they speculate upon who they would like to see. However, as the guys says, if you want a big name to lead the movie as Sue, you’d struggle to find someone above Emma Stone. Personally, I like all the choices we’ve heard for Sue so far, so I’m just excited to see how eventually gets it. If Emma Stone is too expensive, so be it.

I do agree that the focus, the lead of the movie should be Sue. As a huge Fantastic Four fan, Sue for me was always the core of the group, and certainly without doubt, the most powerful superhero of the four. To begin with we had Sue unfortunately play the usual mother role in the team. However, in the more modern adaptations of this team Sue is the goat and I enjoy that dynamic personally.

Reed is a harder lead to follow because he’s just too smart and self-focused. Driver would make a great Reed, as it’s a serious role if done right. But Sue for me should be the main star and the ‘lead’ of at least the first story told. I did come up with a pitch for Fantastic Four myself on this website years ago and Sue was certainly my lead character as the team adjusted to coming from the 60’s to the modern MCU. Ben will always be my favorite character of the four, but he’s not a lead in a first movie either.

I get that other FF fans of different era’s may disagree with me. I can only call it like I see it.

What do you think of the Buzz that Emma Stone was Marvel’s first choice for Sue Storm in Fantastic Four, but she was too expensive? As always, leave any thoughts below.
