Giancarlo Esposito wants Professor X role after confirming he’s had Marvel talks. The star of Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul, The Boys, and The Mandalorian has a pretty big reputation for playing bad guys and playing them very well. However in an appearance at convention this weekend, the star said he wants something different i.e. not a villain.
Esposito confirmed he’s met with Marvel Studios about a potential MCU role.
“So, I have not worked for Marvel yet,” Esposito said at the TJH Superhero Car Show & Comic Con in San Antonio, Texas. “I’ve been in a room with them and talked with them.”
“So, there’s been talk of Magneto, there’s been talk of Dr. Freeze, there has been talk of, who else are they talking about over there? Oh, Doom! And there is Professor X.”
“Pick one? I’m going to go for something that is a little bit different. I’m going to go and put it out in the universe that it is Professor X.”

Dr. Freeze with Marvel is a bit of a stretch? So I’m not really sure that Esposito is saying he has chosen Professor X from a bunch of roles. However, I think what he is saying that if given a choice he wants Professor X and perhaps is hoping the fan support will help him land the gig? I’m never 100% sure with Esposito in interviews. I think the only thing we can say for certain, and has already been reported is that he’s had Marvel talks.

If it was up to me, I’d give him Professor X. I’d love to see Esposito get the chance to do something away from villainy. The quality of his acting is top notch and we need to see him in diverse settings to get the benefit of that. Esposito has also been rumored for Doctor Doom, which he mentions above. I’d be quite happy with Esposito as Doom, don’t get me wrong, but I’d prefer Professor X if honest.
