The Eternals runtime makes it the second longest Marvel movie behind Avengers: Endgame. According to a Russian ‘Film Distributer Bulletin’ called Kino Metro, the Eternals runtime is 156 minutes, which is 2 hours and 36 minutes. This has also been corroborated by theatre chains in Australia who I am informed are extremely accurate with listings. Additionally Eternals will be an R-rated movie in Russia due to some sexual content. My guess given the antiquated Russian stance on homosexuality, is that it could be a simple as two men or women kissing. However that remains to be seen.
At 156 minutes Eternals will become the second longest Marvel movie to date. Avengers: Endgame is first at 3 hours and 1 minute. However Infinity War was actually only 2 hours and 29 minutes long, or 149 minutes.

Given the delays, Marvel has done a good job of keeping the story quiet on this one. I’m pretty sure there are some legit leaks out there. However, you really have to go looking for them and that’s not going to spoil anyone who didn’t ask for it. I must admit, given the little I do know, I never expected Eternals to be one of the shorter Marvel movies. However I must also admit I did not think it would beat out Infinity War. I just hope Eternals does not suffer from any pacing issues as a result. Infinity War and Endgame were filled with characters and content, so the runtime flew past. Number four on the list is unsurprisingly Captain America: Civil War. Civil War again deals with a large character group and that’s something we also have to remember is true of Eternals.
I guess I am expecting something very different from Eternals. The Marvel formula for origin stories became quite stale for years. However with Shang-Chi and Eternals being origin stories, I think Marvel has managed to change it up.
What do you think of the Eternals runtime being 156 minutes? As always, leave any thoughts below.
