The latest DCU news as Lanterns writer Tom King praises the Hal and John casting, plus Peacemaker Season 2 wraps filming. Whilst we wait for Creature Commandos to kick off the DCU on 5th December, two more TV series from the franchise are taking shape. In a recent interview Tom King one of Lanterns writers has big praise for the casting of Hal and John with Kyle Chandler and Aaron Pierre respectively.
Speaking with CBM King said this about the casting for the show.
“I mean, I would say I’m over the moon but that’s not far enough for a Lantern. I guess I’m over Oa? That’s pretty far,” King told CBM. “You should see these two together. They have amazing chemistry and I couldn’t be more excited. I’m not allowed to say anything except that I can say it’s awesome!”
“We’ve got the perfect cast,” he continued. “When you look at Kyle, you see someone who used to fly jetplanes and embodies Hal. When you look at Aaron, his heart, his soul, and his strength are so John Stewart. He’s so perfect. It’s going to be great.”
Chris Mundy is showrunner and is writing Lanterns with Damon Lindelof and King himself.

Next up we have the news that Peacemaker Season 2 is a wrap. Some of the cast had already wrapped last week, but creator and DCU boss James Gunn announced the full wrap just yesterday. Check it out.
And that is a WRAP on #Peacemaker season 2, including our last remaining actors Steve Agee, Tim Meadows, Sol Rodriguez & Brandon Stanley (& our DP Sam McCurdy pictured here moments after the last shot.) Thanks to our entire cast & crew who made this a wonderful experience. My… pic.twitter.com/WQiEbEL1cm

As Gunn points out, between this and Superman which wrapped not that long ago Gunn has been shotting for 10 months. He’s therefore looking forward to not being on the road. I won’t say a break though completely as no doubt he’s hard at work editing both projects and running DC studios with Peter Safran.
Creature Commandos is out next week, then we have Superman in July. After that it seems August will be the premiere date of Peacemaker Season 2. After that, my guess would be the Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow movie and then perhaps Lanterns TV series. Just by order of how far they all appear to be along.
What do you think as Lanterns writer Tom King praises the Hal and John casting, plus Peacemaker Season 2 wraps filming? Thoughts below as always.
