My family is filled with suckers for musical films. Anything from Hairspray to Hamilton, we love it. Especially given the fact that a lot of times we don’t have the opportunity to see these works of art live. It’s always exciting to see when a studio is going to release a new film. The question in our minds is, which of the songs is going to get stuck in our heads the longest? Thanks to 20th Century Studios, we are going to once again have to answer that question.

Today, in celebration of National Coming Out Day, they released a trailer, poster, and images for Everybody’s Talking About Jamie. This film is inspired by true events and an adaptation of the hit musical Everybody’s Talking About Jamie. It follows a character named Jamie New, a 16-year-old boy that doesn’t quite fit in with what is considered “the status quo”. His dream is to become a drag Queen. You can check out the trailer above. Also, you can check out the poster and images below!

Here is the synopsis for Everybody’s Talking About Jaime provided by Walt Disney Studios:
“Inspired by true events, New Regency’s and Film4’s “Everybody’s Talking About Jamie” is the film adaptation of the hit musical. Jamie New is 16 and doesn’t quite fit in—instead of pursuing a “real” career he dreams of becoming a drag queen. Uncertain about his future, Jamie knows one thing for sure: he is going to be a sensation. Supported by his loving mom and his amazing friends, Jamie overcomes prejudice, beats the bullies and steps out of the darkness, into the spotlight.”

The film stars newcomer Max Harwood. Along with Sarah Lancashire, Lauren Patel, Shobna Gulati, Ralph Ineson, Adeel Akhtar, Samuel Bottomley. With Sharon Horgan and Richard E. Grant. Jonathan Butterell, who is also the stage production’s director, will make his feature film debut as a director. Based on a screenplay and lyrics by Tom McRae. Songs by Dan Gillespie Sells and a score composed by Sells and Anne Dudley. Mark Herbert, p.g.a., Peter Carlton, p.g.a., and Arnon Milchan are producing. With Yariv Milchan, Michael Schaefer, Natalie Lehmann, Daniel Battsek, Ollie Madden, Peter Balm, Niall Shamma, and Jes Wilkins as executive producers.

The film looks like it’s going to be very bright and bold. No doubt that seems that the overall message of the story is for everyone to be true to themselves. Definitely worth a look. What do you think of this trailer? Let us know in the comment section below!

20th Century Studios’ Everybody’s Talking About Jaime is currently scheduled to open in theaters on February 26th, 2021.
