Evil Dead Rise Red Band Trailer Brings Back The Blood, Gore, and Scares

Evil Dead Rise

All of the Evil Dead movies and the reincarnation in 2013 are certainly a fright-fest for horror aficionados with their unique, scary storytelling. Now with Evil Dead Rise, the Necronomicon and the deadites return to a more urban setting haunting an innocent family.

Here is the description of the film:

Moving the action out of the woods into the city, Evil Dead Rise tells a twisted tale of two estranged sisters, played by Lily Sullivan (I Met a Girl, Barkskins) and Alyssa Sutherland (The Mist, Vikings), whose reunion is cut short by the rise of flesh-possessing demons, thrusting them into a primal battle for survival as they face the most nightmarish version of a family imaginable.

The film also stars Morgan Davies (Storm Boy, The End), Gabrielle Echols (Reminiscence), and Nell Fisher (Northspur). Lee Cronin (The Hole in the Ground) wrote and directed the movie.

Essentially, Evil Dead Rise looks like a standalone film without any direct ties to the original trilogy with Ash or its reboot that starred Jane Levy. Nonetheless, it has all the elements and frights of those movies. Also, it seems to be keeping its humorless storytelling and being a straight-up horror film. That’s a good thing!

Will fans flock to this film without the Evil Dead signature character Ash from Bruce Campbell? They certainly did with Fede Alvarez’s Evil Dead reboot, and this one falls along the lines of that film in tone.

Evil Dead Rise is in theaters in North America on April 21 and internationally on April 19.
