Space colonizers traveling to a distant planet are technically in a giant coffin traveling at the speed of light. In Dean Devlin’s The Ark for SYFY, a group of young colonists is suddenly awakened by a space disaster that leaves their spaceship damaged and without a crew. Using their wits and knowledge, they must band together for their own survival.

The series stars Christie Burke, Richard Fleeshman, Reece Ritchie, Stacey Reed, and Ryan Adams.

Here is the official description of the series:

The Ark takes place 100 years in the future when planetary colonization missions have begun as a necessity to help secure the survival of the human race. The first of these missions on a spacecraft known as Ark One encounters a catastrophic event causing massive destruction and loss of life. With more than a year left to go before reaching their target planet, a lack of life-sustaining supplies, and a loss of leadership, the remaining crew must become the best versions of themselves to stay on course and survive.

Dean Devlin (Independence Day, Stargate) and Jonathan Glassner (Stargate SG-1) are the co-showrunners and executive producers of the series. With their experience in the Stargate series, The Ark potentially can be the next hit SYFY is looking for in the series. Although it feels remarkably similar to The CW’s The 100, that series also found its success for many years.

The Ark is on the SYFY channel and simultaneously streams on Peacock on February 1.
