In a fitting, bittersweet farewell to the Netflix series Outer Banks, the hunt for the fabled treasure is nearly over in season five.
It means we’ll have to say our final goodbyes to the characters of John B Routledge, Sarah Cameron, Kiara Carrera, Pope Heyward, Rafe Cameron, and Topper Thornton as their adventures come to an end.
To set the mood, composer Fil Eisler scored the final season of Netflix’s Outer Banks soundtrack, which is released today.
The series stars Chase Stokes, Madelyn Cline, Madison Bailey, J.D. Drew Starkey, and Austin North.
Here is the official synopsis for season five of Outer Banks:
Season five finds the Pogues at their absolute breaking point following the tragic loss of JJ in Morocco. Stranded far from home and mourning the heart of their crew, they’ve lost the Blue Crown and continue to face a gauntlet of familiar threats. With Chandler Groff still at large, Dalia and the Corsairs closing in, and the Kooks ensuring the Pogues have no home to return to. John B, Sarah, Kiara, Pope, and Cleo must rely on their scrappy instincts—and an uneasy alliance with Rafe—to keep from falling apart for good. Their mission is now a desperate race to reclaim their future and finally win the freedom they’ve been chasing since the beginning. It’s the Pogues against the world as they seek to avenge their best friend and bring it on home…one final time.

LRM Online premieres exclusively the track titled “The Boy on the Beach from the Outer Banks soundtrack by Fil Eisler.
“If ‘The Royal Merchant Theme’ was the opening statement of Outer Banks back in 2020, then ‘The Boy On The Beach’ is arguably the last word in the series. It wraps up what’s turned out to be the most personal storyline of the show and underlines the fact that above all the adventure and treasure hunting, friendship, and chosen family is the central premise of every OBX story,” stated Fil Eisler to LRM Online. “Interestingly, it’s one of the few uses of piano in the whole series too (a very deliberate choice), so it stands out from almost everything else we’ve heard thus far in the soundtrack. The old 1914 Steinway felt upright we recorded gave it a sort of dusty, nostalgic quality and really made it feel like music you can almost touch.”
Fil Eisler is a Czech-born, English-raised composer who creates inventive scores and signature themes for television and film. He has a range of notable projects, from the caper film Fast Charlie starring Pierce Brosnan to the action thriller The Desperate Hour with Naomi Watts. He scored the CBS hit series Fire Country and Sheriff Country. For the Emmy-winning series Shameless, he earned the BMI Film and TV Award for his music. He also received the BMI Award for composer and conductor for ABC’s Revenge. His other credits include Life of the Party, CHIPS, How to Be Single, Dietland, Girlfriends’ Guide To Divorce, Empire, Proud Mary, Super Intelligence, and Thunder Force.
The soundtrack to season five of Outer Banks is available today. Season five of Outer Banks is now streaming on Netflix.
