Interscope Records releases the official soundtrack to The Shards on Friday, October 16. The 16-track album pairs new pop songs with the series’ original score, giving fans both sides of the show’s sound in one place. And LRM Online has an exclusive snippet track titled “Really Rhonda.”
Original Songs
Troye Sivan leads with three tracks: the opener “LA Wants Me Dead,” plus “Another Day Goes By” and “Never Getting Away.” The titles alone suggest the restless, glossy, slightly menacing feel of the series. Allie X adds “Presentation Destination,” and Hayes Warner contributes two songs, “Seriously” and “Baby.” These six tracks make up the album’s pop side, built for both the show and the playlist.
The Score
The other ten tracks are the original score by composers Morgan Kibby and David Klotz. Many of the cue titles point to the show’s characters and turning points: “The Boy,” “Really Rhonda,” “Ryan,” “Lizzie,” and “Thom and Susan.” Others hint at its darker material, including “The World of Adults and Death,” “Why Do You Hate Me So Much,” and the closing track, “The Stairway.” “A True Home Coming Queen” and “Legends” round out the set.
“Really Rhonda” was one of the first pieces of music the composers made for the series. In an exclusive statement, Klotz and Kibby described how it came together:
“Really Rhonda’s theme was one of the first cues that we created for The Shards. After we were hired, Morgan and I got together in my studio in December of 2025 and recorded a handful of demos. One of those demos had a New Wave/Post Punk/Goth guitar melody. It was very inspired by the guitar sounds of The Cure and The Smiths. We took that melody and layered it with 80s-inspired synths to create a very dark, moody score cue. We delivered it in our first batch to editorial. When they sent us a cut of episode 3, we were thrilled to see that they used this track to introduce the character of Rhonda. Inspired by the placement, we then further developed this idea for her character throughout that episode, and it quickly became one of our favorite tracks from the score.”

The Composers
Klotz and Kibby have scored together before, on Hulu’s All Fair and Netflix’s The Watcher.
David Klotz is an Emmy-winning music editor who also works as a composer, producer, songwriter and music supervisor. He has won eight Emmys and earned 23 nominations for music editing on shows including Game of Thrones, American Horror Story and Stranger Things. His composing credits include FX’s American Sports Story, the “The Naughty List” episode of American Horror Stories, and Netflix’s The Prom, which he co-composed with Matthew Sklar. In 2019, he produced and arranged the “Never Ending Story” cover for the Stranger Things season 3 finale, one of the most talked-about moments of that season.
Morgan Kibby’s recent scores include Disney+’s Queens, Hulu’s BAFTA-winning Am I Being Unreasonable?, FX’s Grotesquerie, Eva Husson’s BAFTA-shortlisted Mothering Sunday, and Audible’s #1 adaptation of Pride & Prejudice. As a songwriter and producer, she has worked on Grammy-nominated and chart-topping albums for Panic! At The Disco, Harry Styles and Lady Gaga. Her work on Panic! At The Disco’s #1 single “Hey Look Ma I Made It” earned her a BMI Pop Award. She has released solo music as White Sea and Sue Clayton, remixed more than 25 tracks for artists such as Lorde, Britney Spears and The Weeknd, and was a member of the French electronic group M83 from 2008 to 2015.
Why It Works
Klotz and Kibby both move easily between pop and prestige TV, and that range shapes the album. “Really Rhonda” shows it well: a post-punk guitar line set over ’80s synths, and a demo that ended up as a character’s theme. The Sivan, Allie X, and Warner songs give the series its pop edge, while the score provides the tension underneath.
