Round four of the Expendables is set to shoot this August. The rough and tumble action franchise composed of some of the toughest guys around, both on screen and in real life will likely be headed back to Bulgaria for filming according to cast member and former UFC fighter Randy Couture who spoke with TheArnoldFans:
“I’m excited about Expendables 4. Right now, we’re scheduled to start filming in August and hopefully we’re able to stay on schedule. It sounds like we’re coming back to Bulgaria, which is exciting. I’ve spend a lot of time in Sofia and Varna and I’m excited to come back. I love the people (there), I love the food and I’m excited to come back.”
The Expendables franchise is never going to win any Oscars, but they are fun rides and great popcorn movies stuffed full of some of the greatest action stars of all time. I mean seriously, most everyone who has ever kicked ass on screen is a part of these movies, Stallone (though he still seems to be out on this upcoming fourth installment) Schwarzenegger, Bruce Willis, Terry Crews, and Jason Statham just to name a few. One of the few stars missing is Dwayne Johnson. The Rock would be the icing on the cake if they could ever get him involved, make it happen folks!
The films are, of course, way over the top, but as long as you know what to expect going in, they’re very enjoyable. I think of The Fast and the Furious franchise in the same way.
