F9 Film Speeding To The Finish

I have to be honest, I am a casual fan of the Fast & Furious franchise, but I often forget how many there are. Luckily, the title of the ninth installment, F9, helps individuals like myself remember! The newest F&F film met major delays to Covid. What didn’t, right? As everyone is working to continue to move forward, fans have been excited to hear that many of the movies they have been anticipating to see are beginning to make progress. F9 looks to be speeding to the finish line earlier than expected.

Originally the film was to be released last May. Universal saw the writing on the wall and took early precautions to move their films to the following summer. F9 holds a release date of May 28, 2021. Even though it seems far away, the film’s director, Justin Lin, reveals that the film is almost done. There still needs to be some VFX additions and other minor tweaks, but the film looks set to be well ahead of schedule.

The May 2021 release date is still subject to change. Of course it all depends on where we are with Covid. Universal looks ready though. There’s an initial risk with moving all films back year. However, it’s looking as if it may pay off. Some studios release films and do not make back nearly what they hoped. Others made an attempt with release dates, but found the need to continuously move the dates to to filming delays. Universal gave Lin the time to finish, and he has been able to do so with a good amount of time to spare.

I am not completely sure how I feel about another F&F film. I do like seeing characters from across the films unite, but the stories can tend to be a reach. LRM’s own Seth McDonald previously wrote about the team group heading to space…I prefer the street racing. Regardless, it is nice to hear of some more movie news. Let’s hope some of the upcoming release dates will be able to stick.

Are you exacted for F9 or is it one too many? Which film is your favorite in the franchise? Do you think it will actually be released on May 28, 2021? Leave your thoughts in the usual spot, and thanks for reading!
