Famous ’80s Actor Joins The Cast Of Halloween Kills

Halloween Kills Trailer

I’ve mentioned before how the Halloween franchise is by far my favorite in the horror genre.  I will watch all of films in the franchise, and I do mean ALL of them.  When Halloween came out in 2018 bringing back Jamie Lee Curtis, Nick Castle and John Carpenter, I was first in line and wasn’t disappointed!  Next came the news of not one, but two sequels to the film which definitely had quite the vague ending, and many began to wonder just what we may have in store.

Halloween Kills will be coming out October 16, 2020 while Halloween Ends will hit theaters a year later on October 15, 2021.  Rumors had already been flying about possible appearances, including Halloween III: Season of the Witches very own Tom Atkins (yes, the third installment did not feature Michael Meyers, but the cult-classic’s actor could be used as a nice nod to the film).  Recently, Variety reported an actual confirmation of an actor joining the cast who was definitely a hit in the ’80s, Anthony Michael Hall.  Hall has quite the resume including: Weird Science, National Lampoon’s Vacation, The Breakfast Club, Sixteen Candles, Pretty in Pink, War Machine and The Dark Knight.

Now, who will the actor portray?  Well, he is a character who has A LOT of history in the franchise:

“Hall will portray Tommy Doyle, a character who first appeared in the original “Halloween” movie as one of the kids Laurie Strode (Curtis) babysat the night Michael Myers reigned terror on the small town. Doyle’s character (portrayed in that movie by Paul Rudd) returned in 1995’s “Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers.” In that film, Doyle teamed with the iconic Dr. Loomis to help stop Myers again.”

And in case you are leery about a trilogy, the franchise is still in good hands:

“The film will be produced by Malek Akkad, Blum and Bill Block. Carpenter, Curtis, Jeanette Volturno, Couper Samuelson, McBride, Green, and Ryan Freimann will executive produce. Ryan Turek is overseeing the project for Blumhouse.”

I had heard that Tommy Doyle may be returning and I think it is a great idea!  Halloween (2018) really focused on the psychology trauma Laurie (and Michael?) had endured over the years in their connection, so why not bring in the character who witnessed it all.  I’m willing to bet he has had to deal with some issues over the years as well.

In the age of reboots and extended sequels, I have a feeling this franchise is in good hands and can deliver.  What do you think?  How did Michael escape at the end of Halloween? How will Tommy Doyle come back into the frame?  Do you think Hall is a good choice?  Leave your thoughts in the usual spot, and thanks for reading!
