Well, this is a blast from the past. Remember that movie Fanboys that took forever to come out back in the late 2000s? The movie saw a group of (wait for it) fanboys who decide to break into Skywalker Ranch to nab an early cut of Star Wars: the Phantom Menace. I was really excited for it back in college, but when it came out, it admittedly didn’t live up to the hype that I’d, for some reason, let build up for it.

But that’s not to say it’s not a good concept, and I think the landscape is ripe for a sequel. Welp, apparently, we’re not the only one. Discussing Film posted a rumor that a sequel from writer Adam F. Goldberg was in the works, this time following the group trying to get the Snyder Cut of Justice League.

Goldberg tweeted the following:

In the tweet, you can see Goldberg tagged Ready Player One author Ernest Cline, who co-wrote the original Fanboys screenplay.

Screen Rant found this tweet, and that prompted more movement from Goldberg. Specifically, he said:

“I’m meeting with director @kyle_newman this week to discuss Fanboys 2. And randomly @mrdanfogler emailed me last month telling me he wants to get the gang back together. I’ll on it! “

As I stated above, I wasn’t a huge fan of the original, but this is a damn good idea and if it went forward, I would LOVE to see this. Plus, given how pro-Snyder Cut Zack Snyder himself is, I’m sure it wouldn’t be difficult to get him on board in some way.
