For a while, it seemed like Warner Bros. was ready to continue releasing a brand-new Fantastic Beasts film every other year until the franchise ended with its fifth movie. However, there’s no denying that the second film, The Crimes of Grindelwald seemed to throw off the momentum they had. Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them already had a disappointing box office haul, at $812.5 million, but Grindelwald fell even shorter with $653.8 million, driving home a negative trajectory for the franchise, which is never good.

Several months back, it was confirmed that the studio would be delaying this third movie for a full year, giving them room to do more prep for the franchise. But when could we expect them to get in front of cameras?

At LeakyCon, actor Dan Fogler let fans know when they an expect them all to get production started.

“We haven’t started filming yet. We start in February. Last we heard, J.K. … she’s been writing furiously, everyone was really happy with what she submitted, and we’re all just waiting for the new script. And that’s where we’re at.”

So, all in all, it sounds like that full-year delay wasn’t really necessary, but just maybe a handful of months. That being said, it probably is smart to retain that November release date in stead of trying to go up against the big superhero movies in the summer.
