Another Fantastic Four casting update, though it’s from a new source, this just backs up previous claims, rather than add’s new Barside Buzz. The last updates we had said that Vanessa Kirby was almost a lock for Sue. Additionally, that Joseph Quinn (Stranger Things) was hot favorite for Johnny. The latest on the other two roles is less clear. Currently no one is claiming to know who is playing either Reed or Ben. Probably because neither role has actually been cast.
This latest update then from Murphy’s Multiverse, a new source for this subject, but a good source. Murphy really just backs up the current state of play rather than give us anything new. As you’ll see below, Murphy thinks Kirby is the only actor who actually signed a deal pre-strike. However, he also claims art has been seen around the office with Joseph Quinn’s as Johnny Storm.
“Over the last week, Kirby’s name popped back up with several different scoopers indicating that she had landed the role of Susan Storm and news reached us that corroborates that info. From what we’ve heard, however, Kirby is the only actor believed to have actually agreed to a deal before the SAG strike.”
“It sounds like Quinn is the choice for Johnny Storm (concept art of the actor as the Human Torch has been spotted, we hear) and is expected to close a deal once Hollywood returns to business as usual. However, with no end date to the SAG strike in sight, it would be wise not to count any eggs before they hatch as any number of snags with scheduling could potentially cause Quinn to end up on the outside looking in and Marvel looking for a different Torch.”

“No new ground is being broken here simply some support and clarification for what’s already out there but given the wild times in Hollywood, nobody should hold their breath on either of these two stars being in Fantastic Four until after production on the reboot wraps…if it ever starts.”
I’ll agree with Charles on the last point since I have no inside knowledge to comment on anything else. I also think it would be wise to not get too attached to any names mentioned. Not until this strike has ended one way or another.
Murphy makes no mention of Ben or Reed’s casting. Probably because like everyone else says, both roles are up in the air. The only name we’ve consistently had for Reed is Adam Driver. However, it has been claimed he passed on the role initially. Some insiders think Marvel could try Driver again. However, another report said the most recent actor to be linked is former Doctor Who Matt Smith. As for Ben, there have been some names. As of right now though, they’ve all been debunked by insiders, leaving no one left. That one has been the biggest mystery throughout this process.
It’s really starting to look like Kirby is definite for Sue. Elsewhere, we have a clear favorite for Johnny, but not much else.
