Fantastic Four Is Not An Origin Story Says Kevin Feige

In a recent interview Joseph Quinn talks playing Johnny Storm in Fantastic Four for the first time since he was cast.

The upcoming Fantastic Four is not an origin story says Kevin Feige. The Marvel boss recently spoke with THR post-SDCC where Fantastic Four finally got a release date of November 8th, 2024. Fantastic Four was one of three Phase 6 movies named and dated, alongside Saga cappers Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars. Though Reed Richards has already appeared in the MCU, it was from another Universe, so this will be an introduction to the MCU version of the team I am sure. However, as Feige says, that does not mean the movie will be an origin story.

Here’s what Feige said when he spoke to THR.

Feige compared Marvel’s new take on the heroes to its pact with Sony to bring Spider-Man into the MCU, noting this will not be another origin story.

“A lot of people know this origin story. A lot of people know the basics. How do we take that and bring something that they’ve never seen before?” said Feige, who added that given the superteam launched the Marvel Comics universe back in 1961, “We’ve set a very high bar for ourselves with bringing that to the screen.”

Honestly I’m more stoked about not getting an origin story for Fantastic Four more than I was for Spider-Man. Whatever way you look at it, Marvel Studios managed to pull off Spider-Man: Homecoming without an origin. I therefore have faith they’ll do the same here. I’m actually keen for the Fan Four to either be from another part of the Multiverse or to have been hidden away in another realm, or another time. Also, when it comes to Doom, I’d rather he builds Reed up as his nemesis rather than that state already existing when things begin in the MCU.

I’d definitely want some hints at Doom overall. However I would definitely not want Doom to be the main antagonist of the Fantastic Four movie. Especially if we are building towards a God Emperor Doom in Secret Wars. Of course who is the main antagonist is totally depends on how Marvel decides to introduce the team? Therefore, we shall have to wait and see?

What do you think of the news that Fantastic Four is not an origin story according to Kevin Feige? If you can, leave any thoughts below, or over  on Discord.
