Fast & Furious 9 Pushed Back A Year, Trolls 2 Moved Up A Few Months

Fast & Furious fans will have to wait more than a year and a half to get their car-racing, spy fix. Variety is reporting that Universal has pushed back the Fast & Furious 9 a year from its original April 19, 2019 release date to a new April 10, 2020 date.

This new date is just under a year from its original release, and in order to make room for it, the studio pushed forward Trolls 2 from that April 2020 weekend to February 14, 2020 — which is a fitting release date for the hug-loving Trolls.

So what’s the reason behind this move? Sadly, there was no reason given by the studio. It could be something as simple as giving more time for the script, all the way to something more serious, like behind-the-scenes trouble. Recently Michelle Rodriguez raised a stink over how little the female characters actually do in the movie, and even threatened to leave. There was also a cloud over the production of Fate of the Furious in the form of an ongoing feud between stars Dwayne Johnson and Vin Diesel.

That’s not to say the new release has anything to do with these reasons, but you never know. Egos have affected productions in the past, so you never know in this business. If nothing else, we hope this will result in a fun script for the ninth entry that will serve another fun entry in this ridiculous franchise.
