Fast & Furious Franchise Facilitates Final Films For Finale

Universal Pictures announced today that the long running Fast & Furious franchise will come to a close with a two-part finale spread over installments 10 and 11. Justin Lin is set to return to direct the final films which will make six Fast films for Lin in all, and Chris Morgan is set to write both films.

The core members of the cast will likey return though nothing has been confirmed. Eleven films isn’t too bad at all.  What began as movies centered around street racers became an action franchise equipped with a team of ultimate badasses whose adventures played out on a Mission: Impossible level scale.

The films, at least the more recent ones were money making monsters at the box-office.T he last two installments Furious 7 and The Fate of the Furious pulled in over a billion dollarss worldwide. The next installment, F9, will see John Cena join the Fast cast as the brother of Vin Diesel’s Dominic Toretto. The film currently has a May 2021 release date.

Personally, the shift to ridiculously over-the-top action flicks is where I really started to enjoy the series. And then they added The Rock and Jason Statham to the cast. I will watching almost anything with the Rock and/or Statham in it. Popcorn flicks on crack-addicted steroids. These movies are made to entertain the living f**k out of you. And for the most part, they do just that.
