Favreau Hints The Post-Star Wars Sequel Trilogy Period Is Being Developed

In  a recent interview Daisy Ridley says her new Star Wars movie is "not what she expected!"

Although his own projects exist in an earlier time, Jon Favreau hints that the post-Star Wars sequel trilogy period is being developed. Or, at least conversations are happening about how and what to do next. Favreau spoke recently with Moovy TV and here is what he had to say about the Star Wars Universe after the events of The Rise of Skywalker.

“There’s definitely a conversation that’s going on. And also what happens after the sequel trilogy, because the sequel trilogy only takes place over the course of a few years,” he explains. “And it’s a big thing on the screen, and it’s very eventful. But it is a relatively brief moment in history over the course of the thousands of years that Star Wars takes place.”

“And so what happens after it is interesting too, and I know that there’s some discussion, exploration going on about what happens after it.”

I dunno, very far away in the future, yes. However anything which draws attention to that trilogy, especially how it ended is a struggle for me. There are so many things I that trilogy which had a negative effect on the Star Wars Universe as a whole. Yet, it was The Rise of Skywalker that really threw the baby out with the bath water to coin an old phrase. How do you follow that? J. J. Abrams really left a scorched earth (Galaxy) policy with that one.

I guess Lucasfilm has to try, or do they? I they go 10 years later, would we not all be wondering where Rey, Finn and Poe are, whether Rey is building a new Jedi Order? Honestly there’s likely some good story opportunities there. Problem is, that’s what they should have done with Luke instead of skipping a generation to try and be and ending to a story that already had one.

So, Jon Favreau hints that the post-Star Wars sequel trilogy period is being developed. Is it inevitable, is it a bad idea? As always, tell us below what you think.
