Female-Centric John Wick Spinoff Ballerina To Be Directed By Len Wiseman

It’s been over two years since we reported on John Wick getting a female-centric spinoff in the form of a film named Ballerina. That’s right. Two long years, and in the time since then, I’ve practically forgotten all about it. Luckily, with the success of John Wick: Chapter 3, I’m sure the studio has taken a serious look at this one.

Now, Deadline is reporting Ballerina is getting fast-tracked, and that Underworld and Live Free or Die Hard director Len Wiseman will tackle the movie. Most recently, he did work on superhero fare like The Gifted and Swamp Thing.

The script for Ballerina is written by Shay Hatten, who did work on John Wick: Chapter 3 and the upcoming Zack Snyder movie Army of the Dead. Keanu Reeves and Chad Stahelski will be involved as producers, though it’s unknown if John Wick himself will appear.

One interesting note the outlet states is that the character name “Ballerina” is played by Unity Phelan, but it is unclear if this has any bearing on who will lead the movie.
