What would an era of Stephen King adaptations and remakes be without another take on the classic tale Firestarter. The novel was written way the hell back in 1980, and it wasn’t long before it hit theaters in 1984. Many film fans may recall that a young Drew Barrymore actually starred in that film that was an interesting follow-up to her work on E.T. the Extraterrestrial.

This remake from Universal and Blumhouse has Halloween Kills’ Scott Teems adapting the novel, which follows a girl with pyrotechnic abilities. According to Collider, director of the upcoming horror film The Vigil, Keith Thomas, is on board to helm this project for the studio.

The outlet goes on to say that the studios are hoping to get a big name to play the role of the girl’s father, though there is no lead on who that could be. One interesting they have for the girl herself is Julia Butters. Viewers may not know the name, but many of us saw her act alongside Leonardo DiCaprio in a few scenes as the young actor prodigy.
