First Deadpool 2 Image Features A Very Familiar Location

Deadpool continues to be a fascinating superhero. Unique from the moment he first appeared in the page, the live-action marriage between the character and Ryan Reynolds has been so seamless that the two don’t seem like a married couple at all, but, in fact, one single entity. Try reading Ryan Reynolds’ tweets without picturing the Merc with the Mouth expressing the same darkly hilarious ideas. Good luck reading any one of the current running Deadpool titles from Marvel Comics without hearing the salty-sweet voice of Reynolds in your head. I give more credit to all the wonderful promotional material than the first film itself, for this symbiosis between actor and character. As marketing was unveiled for his first go-around, we had Deadpool action left and right, from Deadpool explaining testicular cancer to men to even appearing on his own Honest Trailer.

With Deadpool 2 on the distant horizon, once again, the two have become one, with Ryan Reynolds posting the first official image from the film of himself in costume, in front of a familiar location:

Again, it says I’m reading Ryan Reynolds’ Twitter account, but it’s all Deadpool to me!

This image confirms Deadpool will return to the X-Mansion, home to Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters. Will he find more inhabitants this time, with that bigger budget of his? I’d say it’s very unlikely that the current X-Men franchise stars will make an appearance; don’t expect to see Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, or Jenifer Lawrence due to their busy schedules both for the next X-Men film, and their other Hollywood projects. It would be cool to see Tye Sheridan as Scott Summers / Cyclops, seeing as how Cable is actually his kid from the future… that would blow that young mutant’s little mind!

Deadpool 2 will have Josh Brolin and Zazie Beets joining Wade Wilson (Reynolds), as Cable and Domino, respectively. David Leitch, an uncredited co-director on John Wick and director of the upcoming Atomic Blond, is helming Deadpool 2 from a script written by Rhett Reese & Pail Wernick (Deadpool, Life). Drew Goddard (Cabin in the Woods, The Martian) also worked on the screenplay.

Deadpool 2 hits the big screen in June 1, 2018.
