First Look At Claes Bang as Dracula For BBC/Netflix Series

Do classic monsters still have a place in today’s modern films and television series? Characters like Frankenstein, the Mummy, Wolfman, the Creature from the Black Lagoon and Dracula. It seems like lately films featuring these characters have not fared well for one reason or another. Universal had planned an entire franchise of films they called the Dark Universe that went back to the drawing board after how bad Tom Cruise’s The Mummy did in theaters. Although the films may be on hold for the moment, Netflix and BBC have an upcoming limited series titles Dracula.

The series will showcase Claes Bang, who recently starred in The Girl in the Spider’s Web, as the classic first introduced to the world by Bram Stoker in 1897. This particular series is created and written by Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss. Today they studios have released our first look at Bang as the legendary vampire with two images. Check them out below!

The series will feature 90 minute episodes and will be introducing Dracula in 1897 Transylvania where he is putting together his plans against Victoria London. Executive producers on the series are Gatiss, Moffat and Sue Vertue for Hartswood Films Ben Irving for BBC. Also on the series are Lyndsey Marshal, Chanel Cresswell, Matthew Beard, Lydia West, Paul Brennen, Sarah Niles, Sofia Oxenham, John McCrea, Phil Dunster and Millicent Wong. Along with the previously announced John Heffernan, Joanna Scanlan, Dolly Wells, Sacha Dhawan, Jonathan Aris, Morfydd Clark and Nathan Stewart-Jarrett.

I am a big fan of the classic monsters, so anytime these characters make their way on television or film I look forward to it. What do you think about this version of Dracula so far based on the images, let us know in the comment section below!

Netflix’s Dracula currently does not have a release date.
