Out of all the video games to be adapted on screen, one would never guess a multiplayer VR game Werewolves Within to be adapted.

The video game has a simple plot premise in five-to-eight players trying to guess, who is the werewolf for elimination. In the meantime, they would lie and betray their friends in order to survive the vote.

IFC Films acquired the North American rights to Werewolves Within from director Josh Ruben (Scare Me) and the script penned by bestselling author Mishna Wolff (I’m Down).

The ensemble cast includes Sam Richardson (Veep, Detroiters), Milana Vayntrub (This Is Us), George Basil (Crashing), Sarah Burns (Barry), Michael Chernus (Tommy), Catherine Curtin (Orange Is The New Black), Wayne Duvall (The Hunt), Harvey Guillen (What We Do In The Shadows), Rebecca Henderson (Russian Doll), Cheyenne Jackson (30 Rock), Michaela Watkins (Brittany Runs A Marathon, and Glenn Fleshler (True Detective).

The premise of the story is as follows:

After a proposed gas pipeline creates divisions within the small town of Beaverfield, and a snowstorm traps its residents together inside the local inn, a newly arrived forest ranger Finn (Richardson) and postal worker Cecily (Vayntrub) must try to keep the peace and uncover the truth behind a mysterious creature that has begun terrorizing the community.

IFC Films plans for release theatrically on June 25. Then it’ll be available On Demand and digital on July 2.

The film has quite a bunch of on-screen comedians, so it’ll make this a very funny whodunnit comedy horror film. Not to mention, Ruben’s Scare Me with Aya Cash and Chris Redd was an excellent directorial feature film debut for someone who has a strong background in comedy with CollegeHumor Originals and Adam Ruins Everything.
