On a day where networks like AMC are marathoning the Halloween franchise, it’s only right that the loyal fanbase get a small peak at the next chapter. And that’s exactly what David Gordon Green and company did on October 31st for the masses.
Late Thursday morning, as children sat anxiously in school counting down until the final bell—and as adults plot out the evening during work hours—the Halloween Movies Instagram account gave a teaser to the masses. In a 22-second video package, the teaser showcases the production of the upcoming sequel Halloween Kills. Check out the post below for the sneak peak.
Featuring shots of Green behind a camera and planning out scenes, the post features quick cuts of key moments already filmed for the 2nd in the trilogy. Silhouette shots of Michael, gunfire, Judy Greer returning as a distraught Karen, and of course the legendary Jamie Lee Curtis once again reprising the role that made her a star, Laurie Strode. The clip ends with Curtis—smiling while laying on a stretcher, covered in fake blood—looking up at the camera and saying “Happy Halloween.”
After the massive success of 2018’s Halloween—over $255 million worldwide on a budget of $10 million—Green and co-writer Danny McBride were given the go-ahead by Blumhouse Studios to complete their three-film story arc of Michael Myers and Laurie Strode. Halloween Kills, the second installment, is due to be released October 16th, 2020. Their third and final outing in the franchise, Halloween Ends, is slated for October 15th, 2021.
With less than 350 days until the next battle between Myers and Strode, there is bound to be much more activity on the franchise’s social media accounts. As a fanboy of the story of Strode and Myers, and while All Hallows’ Eve has come and gone, this writer has already starting the countdown until next October.
