First Look At Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon A Time In Hollywood

Given how big of a fan I am of Quentin Tarantino — in spite of the filmmaker’s somewhat grating self-gratifying nature — you can rest assured that I’m incredibly excited for his latest outing Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. After dipping into the world of Westerns for the past several years, he seems to be returning to the real world for a bit. So if you liked LA-based movies like Pulp Fiction and Jackie Brown, these may be more up your alley.

But, of course, given the title of the movie, you can bet your ass he’ll be doing all kinds of fun homages to the medium he loves so much — and that’s in addition to the predictably violent explosion we’ll be getting with the Manson murders being brought into the whole thing. We’ve known for a while, it will follow an aging Western star (Leonardo DiCaprio) and his stunt double (Brad Pitt) trying to make it in an ever-changing show business industry.

Now, in a new piece from Vanity Fair, we have another look at what to expect from the movie in the form of several images. YOU CAN CHECK THOSE OUT HERE!

In terms of new story content, there is virtually none to speak of. The pieces gives a preamble of plot details we already know about revolving around the premise, but there are some fun details to be pulled from the images. There are some shots of Leonardo DiCaprio’s character — one of him jumping out from a pickup and another of him dancing for what looks like a commercial photoshoot.

The first one, to me, looks like he’s kind of in his element doing a modern western — a film that may be his last before he attempts to change his ways to better fit the changing landscape. The next could be his attempts at “selling out” and staying alive in this industry. Of course, this is all speculation, but I love pulling fun details — like the obviously fake background of the pickup shot. It really just oozes of old-school filmy goodness.
