Pokemon has been a very busy franchise recently with two new games for the Nintendo Switch, it’s popular app as well as the the release of Warner Bros. Pictures’ Detective Pikachu in May of 2019 starring Ryan Reynolds as the voice of the electric Pokemon. But wait there’s more, as today the first official trailer for the next Pokemon film has been released titled, Pokemon The Movie: Mewtwo Strikes Back Evolution. You can check it out below.

This film will act as a callback to the very first Pokemon film titled Pokemon: The First Movie: Mewtwo Strikes Back, which was first released in 1998. Overall it is the 22nd film in the franchises’ cinematic history and it’s third in it’s recently alternate continuity that follows Pokemon the Movie: I Choose You! and Pokemon the Movie: The Power of Us.

The trailer does not give us a lot of information other than it will make it revolves around the franchises’ first theatrical film. The story revolved around Mewtwo, who kidnapped trainers Pokemon to clone them to attempt to destroy the world. For the time being it is unknown how close the film will follow the original.

Along with the trailer these two images were also released. One is a screenshot of the trailer and the other seems to be the first poster for the movie. The screenshot of Mewtwo is above and the poster is below.
