We’re sharing the first poster, and a few details for the Game of Thrones spin-off series, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. The series is set around 90+ years before the events of Game of Thrones, but more than that ahead of currently airing prequel House of the Dragon. Ergo, the world we explore is much more familiar to early episodes of Game of Thrones. In other words, no magic and no dragons.
A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms focuses on the adventures of “Dunk,” a.k.a. the future Lord Commander of the Kingsguard, Ser Duncan the Tall, and “Egg,” the future King Aegon V Targaryen. However, it also focuses less on the high lords and ladies than either the main Thrones series, or HotD.

This Winter, Spring is coming!
Yeah, not my favourite tag line ever, not going to lie.
Synopsis:
“Set in an age when the Targaryen line still holds the Iron Throne and the memory of the last dragon has not yet passed from living memory, great destinies, powerful foes, and dangerous exploits all await these improbable and incomparable friends.”

Season 1 of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms will adapt the first of creator George R. R. Martin’s three novellas, 1998’s The Hedge Knight. Future seasons (if greenlit) plan to adapt 2003’s The Sworn Sword and 2010’s The Mystery Knight.
Next January (2026) will see the release of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. Later next year we also get House of the Dragon Season 3, the penultimate season of the show. There are other spin-off’s currently in development for HBO, but none have been greenlit as yet.
Oh, and co-creator Ira Parker has told EW, that one things missing from this series is that iconic title sequence.
“All decisions came down to Dunk, trying to channel the type of person he is into every aspect of this show, even the title sequence. The title sequences on the original [Game of Thrones] and House of Dragon are big and epic and incredible. Ramin Djawadi’s score is orchestral and large and beautiful. That’s not really Dunk’s M.O. He’s plain and he’s simple and he’s to-the-point. He doesn’t have a lot of flash to him.”
I’ll be reviewing this one, and for once, I haven’t actually read these books, so that should be cool.
What do you think of the first poster and details for A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms? Thoughts below as always.
