First Solo: A Star Wars Story Plot Details Describe A Railway Heist

Audiences may still be wary about what to expect from Lucasfilm’s upcoming Solo: A Star Wars Story, but those initial teasers released this past Sunday and Monday did at least paint a picture of a fun film. But as far as what the movie was about…that wasn’t made quite clear in these teasers.

So what is the movie about?

In a new report from EW, we got a couple more plot details regarding the film. For starters, in the teasers, we saw a fight atop a train going through the snow. It turns out this may be something of an initiation for Han Solo, as he needs to prove his worth by stealing something on board the train. As far as what that thing is…we don’t know yet.

“He might be a little more immature, he may be a little less experienced, and he may hone his cynicism over time, but he’s very wary,” Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy told the outlet. “He needs to gain the respect of the people he interacts with, even if they’re the lowest of the low.”

One aspect I found interesting is that based on this piece, Han Solo is a character who is happy to join a band of thieves, but when push comes to shove, he begrudgingly can’t help doing the right thing — which is something we saw at the end of Star Wars: A New Hope, and throughout that trilogy.

As expected, he’ll be crossing paths with Chewbacca and Lando Calrissian, and Emilia Clarke will be playing something of a shadowy love interest in Qui’ra. The name of the droid in the trailer has also been revealed as L3-37 — and we have to wonder how they plan on shortening that one (L3?).

Perhaps most importantly is we have the name of Woody Harrelson’ character, Tobias Beckett (it was speculated he would be based on Legends character Garris Shrike). Alongside him is Thandie Newton’s character Val, and finally, Paul Bettany’s character is now known to be a crime boss by the name of Dryden Vos.

All in all, in this film full of criminals, it’s about Han trying to figure out just who he can trust.
