No, this isn’t a joke. You are indeed reading that title correctly. Late last week, mere days after releasing the first trailer for their upcoming superhero team-up flick, Dark Phoenix, which takes on an incredibly ambitious and beloved run of the comics, Fox has opted to delay the film a second time. Instead of hitting on February 14, 2020, as planned earlier (though the film was originally set to hit this year), it’s been pushed back to June 7.
There are rumors that the reason behind this range from them not wanting to rush the visual effects (and considering what happened to Justice League, who can blame them?) and them wanting to launch during a better month for China.
Next up, Gambit has a release date of March 13, 2020. When we last heard, the script was in a good place and they going for a romantic-comedy angle. I’ll believe this when I see it.
Next up, they have pushed Alita: Battle Angel yet again (another film that’s been pushed a second time) from this coming to December to Dark Phoenix‘s old February 14, 2020 spot. This is the only move from them in this report that I think is a good one, as its original holiday release had some pretty stiff competition in the form of Aquaman, Bumblebee, and Mary Poppins Returns (though I doubt the latter has much crossover appeal).
Last, there is a rumor that a PG-13 cut of Deadpool 2 will be taking Alita‘s December 21, 2018 release. This is their weirdest move yet, and it looks like they may be doing a frame narrative with Deadpool reading the tamer story to Fred Savage (Princess Bride-style), for some reason, as evidenced in Reynolds’ tweet.

Is this some cheap move from Fox to milk this franchise even more, test out the PG-13 rating, or maybe something more brilliant that teases X-Force? Only time will tell.
