This summer, Funko Games will be releasing a board game that will be based on the classic movie, The Goonies. The game will be called The Goonies: Never Say Die and is a role-playing game. It is a Target exclusive that will release The Goonies game on June 20 and it will be hard to wait for an entire month.

On the Funko Games website, the description of the game is:

Embark on a perilous adventure full of dangerous booby traps and treacherous treasure-filled caverns! One player is the Goondocks Master, controlling fearsome foes, from the outlaw family, the Fratellis, to the legendary pirate, One-Eyed Willie. The other players take on the role of the Goonies — Mikey, Mouth, Chunk, Data, and Sloth — overcoming cryptic puzzles and deadly challenges with teamwork, strategy, and Data’s clever contraptions! Will the Goonies discover the legendary riches that will save their homes, or will they follow the fate of Chester Copperpot… and never see the light of day?

How The Goonies: Never Say Die Game Is Played

In The Goonies: Never Say Die, there will be 2 to 5 players and gameplay will be 50 minutes. Additionally, the game is for ages 12 and up. The Goonies: Never Say Die will have 8 miniatures of Mikey, Chunk, Sloth, Data, Mouth, the Giant Octopus, the Fratellis, and One-Eyed Willie. Also, the game will have 9 adventures, a gameboard that changes for each adventure, and custom dice.

I never thought I needed this, but now, yes I do. I can’t wait to get it this summer. This isn’t the first time The Goonies has been in game form. There is The Goonies: Adventure Card Game and The Goonies Monopoly, but you can’t save Monopoly even with The Goonies theme. The game goes on way too long. Honestly, I’ve only finished Monopoly a handful of times. Unfortunately, pre-orders have sold out and I’ll be stalking the website often to see when Target will get more.
