The Ryan Murphy/Brad Falchuk creepy creation continues as FX released the first teaser trailer for the upcoming season of American Horror Story. Titled AHS: 1984, the ninth season of the Emmy-winning horror anthology appears to tackle the subject of the 1980s slasher horror genre. Click the link above to take a peak at the scares the series has in store.
The trailer focuses on a group of teenagers headed to Camp Redwood, where they plan to do what most teens did in ’80s films: drink, screw, and party. What the teens seem to be unaware of is that a knife-wielding, masked serial killer is stalking their every move, waiting for the opportune time to skewer them where they stand. At one point, the trailer features a specific homage to Friday The 13th, with the masked murderer leaping out of the lake with a knife over an unsuspecting woman laying in a canoe.

While there is yet to be any specifics regarding the story arch, this is the first visual evidence of the slasher themed season of AHS. The cast for this season includes Emma Roberts, Cody Fern, Gus Kenworthy, Billie Lourd, Matthew Morrison, Angelica Ross, DeRon Horton, and Zach Villa. This time around, series regular Sarah Paulson will have a smaller role in this season. Paulson’s lighter role may be due to her starring in Murphy’s new upcoming series Ratched, which focuses on the head nurse of a mental institution before the events of One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest.
American Horror Story: 1984 premieres September 18th on FX.
