Game Of Thrones – Discussions Took Place On Making Season 8 A Trilogy Of Films

HBO’s Game of Thrones soared to heights never seen before by a television show, especially one based on fantasy novels. To me, the majority of the show was a masterpiece, but showrunners Benioff and Weiss seriously s**t the bed with the final season.

Today comes news that the eighth and final season could have been a film trilogy. It’s not known if these films would have aired on HBO, in a theater or both, but you can check out what franchise creator George R.R. Martin had to say about it while speaking with German outlet Welt below.

“David Benioff and Dan Weiss, wanted to finish the saga with three movies after season 7. Game of Thrones was supposed to end in cinema. It was seriously discussed four to five years ago.”

I actually remember hearing about this a while back. I thought it could have been a cool idea to do it this way, something different for a television show. Game of Thrones was always cinematic, and even with my issues on Season 8, there were some amazing shots, and one of them is, in my opinion, arguably one of the best shots ever, in any film or movie, you can see it at the top of the article.
