Game of Thrones is well on its way to finishing up on HBO, but folks wanting to stay in the world of Ice and Fire won’t have to wait long before they head back in. While there is currently a handful of Game of Thrones spin-off series in development, there is one that comes from Jane Goldman and executive producer George R.R. Martin. It currently doesn’t have a title or a release date, but it seems like it’s well on its way to hitting the small screen in a relatively short time frame.

Deadline is reporting that Jessica Jones‘ S.J. Clarkson has been hired to both direct and executive produce the series alongside Goldman and Martin. Of course, in addition to her work on Jessica Jones, Clarkson also worked on The Defenders. More recently, she made headlines as the first female director in the Star Trek franchise for Star Trek 4, a film that has since fallen through, leaving her wide open to take on this prequel series set in the Game of Thrones world.

That isn’t all. This series has locked down a handful of key players in the casting department. Joining leads Naomi Watts and Josh Whitehouse are Denise Gough (People, Places and Things, Colette), Jamie Campbell Bower (The Twilight Saga, The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones), Sheila Atim (Girl From the North Country, Harlots), Ivanno Jeremiah (Humans, Doctor Who), Georgie Henley (Narnia franchise, The Spanish Princess), Alex Sharp (How To Talk To Girls At Parties, To The Bone), and Tony Regbo (Reign, The Last Kingdom), who will all act as series regulars.

This currently-untitled prequel (which Martin is privately calling The Long Night, much to the network’s chagrin) is set thousands of years prior to the events in Game of Thrones and will chronicle the world’s descent from the golden Age of Heroes. So yeah, pretty lighthearted stuff, per usual.
