Game Of Thrones Prequel Set Photos Feature Familiar Symbol

Game of Thrones is over. It’s done. No longer will we get to see Jon Snow struggle with the Night’s Watch. No longer will we see Cersei manipulate her way to the top. No longer will we see Jaime pine over his sister. No longer will we see Tyrion imbibe another glass of wine. The story has been told, for better or worse, and those characters are done. But we’ve known for a while that HBO wouldn’t be letting go of the property as a whole.

Game of Thrones is set in a rich world full of tons of potential, and we already know the prequel will be set thousands of years in the past, so some familiar themes and family lines are likely. And apparently, we have our first hint of that in a new batch of set photos.

In the photos, there is a photo of what looks to be a cave setting, and within it, if zoomed in, you can make out a lion’s head. The outlet speculates that we could very well be seeing the beginnings of House Lannister, when Lann the Clever “tricked Casterly Rock away from the Casterly clan.”

Of course, that’s all speculation. The only fact that remains is that there is a carved lion’s head that we’re seeing. Either way, given how important a simple “lion” is in this series, it’s easy to assume that they wouldn’t place it as a simple Easter egg.
