Revivals of long-ended or canceled shows have been all the rage in Hollywood for some time now. Shows such as The X-Files, Will and Grace, and Roseanne have all been brought back, with the latest show to be in revival talks is The Office. Writers can always find a way to work around how a show ended, so most any show can be subject to this concept.
HBO president Casey Bloys recently spoke with The Hollywood Reporter and was asked if there is any chance Game of Thrones would get a revival at some point in the future. Here is what he had to say:
“That’s not happening. This story, A Song of Fire and Ice, is done. There’s no revival, reboot, spinoff talk.”

Excellent. I think you would be hard-pressed to find a fan who would want the door left open. Benioff and Weiss were lucky enough to be given the decision on how and when their show would end, a choice not many show-runners are afforded. Taking this into account, the show should be wrapped up and any thoughts of revival would simply be unnecessary.
Game of Thrones returns for its eighth and final season in 2019.
