Yes, we’re still talking about that damn coffee cup. No, at the end of the day the cup doesn’t matter. HBO has since noticed the problem and removed it from circulation (you won’t be able to see it any future releases of the episode), so that infamous cup has pretty much been erased from existence…but that doesn’t mean it’s been fully erased from the pop culture zeitgeist, especially with Game of Thrones as a whole still being a very big part of pop culture.
Most recently, the subject popped up in a recent episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. About two minutes into the segment (which you can check out at the bottom of this piece), Fallon takes out his yarn, push-pins, and photos, drawing a line between a photo of actress Sophie Turner with a coffee cup, and a picture of the coffee cup in the infamous scene.

But Turner was quick to poke holes in Fallon’s theory. She points to the photo of her with the coffee cup, which she took with actress Bella Ramsey, who plays Lyanna Mormont. If you’ll recall, that character dies in the episode previous to the CoffeeGate episode, which means that it was shot a different day, meaning that Turner could NOT have been the one to leave the cup on the table. She then points the finger back at Emilia Clarke.
Sometimes the simplest answer is the truth.
