We’ve come a long way since the year 2000. The years of leather-clad heroes that brought with it the advent of the franchise as a whole. Sure, there were other superhero movies before it, but floodgates didn’t really seem to open until that movie hit, proving that these movies couldn’t just hit well with nerds, but with mainstream audiences. While there have been a lot of ups and downs since then, there is no denying its importance to the genre as a whole.

Now, in a new video from 20th Century Fox, they pull clips from every entry in the franchise — as well as the marketing videos behind these movies — and really let us marinade in just how important this thing is. They really have come a long way, starting out as a franchise that gives more knowing nods to fans and transforming into something that skews closer and closer to the source material.

That wasn’t all. They also released a teaser labeled “A Phoenix Will Rise.” This video shows footage from all the movies of the past before transitioning into clips from the upcoming Dark Phoenix, which will show Jean Grey going all kinds of bad.
