Game of Thrones – The First Actual Footage Of Season 8 Makes Its Way Online

Not long ago, fans of HBO‘s Game of Thrones received some promotional content for the highly anticipated eighth and final season of the popular series. The video didn’t show any actual footage from the upcoming season, but made use of a game board and game pieces that implied potential clashes of houses.

Today comes the first actual footage of what should be an epic conclusion to the show. The clip comes by way of HBO‘s First Look into 2019. In the short clip, we see Daenerys Targaryen arriving at Winterfell. We then see Sansa Stark begrudgingly handing her family’s land over to the Mother of Dragons. To me, it feels like she was encouraged, perhaps in a heavy-handed manner, by Jon Snow.

If you have kept up on your GoT news, what happened in the clip comes as no surprise as it was confirmed not long ago that the season would open with the Mother of Dragons arriving in the land of House Stark. Similar to the show’s first episode which saw King Robert Baratheon arriving at Winterfell.

The season is going to get ugly, and the breakdown of alliances, including families, is a real possibility. What the other characters fail to realize, is just how proficient Sansa Stark became at playing the game (of thrones) during her time in King’s Landing. Littlefinger, as good as he was at playing the game, failed to realize Sansa’s progression and underestimated her, and we all know how that ended up for him.
