Geniuses Behind The Valiant Relaunch Are Ready To Shake Up The Comic Book World With Bad Idea

When I got back into comics back in 2012, I started with the basic type of books that you would think of, Batman, Spider-Man, Superman among others, but soon found myself craving something different. Luckily for me one of my best friends introduced me to two Valiant Comics. I started off with Harbinger, then Archer and Armstrong, Bloodshot and so on, quickly making Valiant one of my favorite comic book publishers. But in covering comic books and traveling to conventions across California, I quickly found out that these titles were great because of the creative minds behind the scenes.

People like Dinesh Shamdasani who was CEO of Valiant at the time, Warren Simons who served as editor-in-chief and Hunter Gorinson who was Vice President of Marketing and Communications were always so passionate about the stories and characters that they were presenting to us in a cluttered comic book industry. When you spoke to them about comics it was very easy to also fall in love with the characters.

That also trickled down to the talent that they brought in to make their visions happen awesome comic book creative teams that includes names like Lewis LaRosa, Joshua Dysart, Robert Venditti, and Tomas Giorello to name a few. In speaking with then about their titles and the rest of their creative teams you were often able to tell why their titles were growing in popularity, you could see how much they enjoyed what they did for a living.

Then it all went south when in a shocking move DMG, a Chinese investment firm, bought out other investors and took over Valiant Entertainment. This couldn’t have happened at a worst time as Shamdasani and the rest of the team had been very hard at work not only making great books, but also the first steps to bringing their characters to the big and small screen, like the upcoming Sony Pictures film Bloodshot starring Vin Diesel and Guy Pearce. As the weeks progressed one by one all these very talented people left Valiant leaving all of us fans only with the thoughts of what could have been.

I tell you all of this because they have all come together and came up with an amazing bad idea. This is something that has been teased to us for a while now but tomorrow we will officially be getting the announcement of a new comic book publishing company that they are calling Bad Idea. Today we have received a teaser image about their announcement which includes some amazing art from some amazing artist like Doug Braithwaite, Giorello, LaRosa and Adam Pollina. You can check that out above.

YOUR NEW FAVORITE COMIC BOOK PUBLISHER.
ANNOUNCEMENT TOMORROW.
ART BT DOUG BRAITHWAITE, TOMAS GIORELLO, LEWIS LAROSA, AND ADAM POLLINA
(NICE, RIGHT?)

It’s important to note that both Shamdasani and Gorinson have been already busy at work over at Hivemind, the LA-based production company where they have worked on such projects like Netflix’s The Witcher and Amazon Prime’s The Expanse, both which have been very successful. Currently, they are also working on bringing Jeff Lemire and Andrea Sorrentino’s Gideon Falls to life, which is an amazing comic book series published by Image Comics.

With what these people mean to me in my comic book journey as creators and friends, it’s easy for me to be very excited about what they will be presenting to us tomorrow. They are proven and very well known creators in the comic book industry that I have no doubt will present us with very high-quality comics. It will be great to see them get started and watch their growth.
