The film industry was devastated during the COVID-19 pandemic for the past thirteen months. With cancelations and delays, many people lost their jobs due to the ongoing efforts to fight the virus and stay-at-home orders.
Famed Game of Thrones author George R.R. Martin is hosting an online fundraiser with events during this year’s WonderCon from Friday, March 26 through Sunday, March 28. Proceeds will help the Stagecoach Foundation to offset losses in its support to access film careers for New Mexicans.
The fundraising programming kicks off with an online auction feature collectors’ items from Martin’s many properties, including Game of Thrones, Nightflyers, and the Wild Cards series, which was recently picked up for development as a television series. Other items up for auction include a private balloon ride with champagne.
The auction is currently open and runs through March 28. Live Auction hosted by Bernie Bregman of NerdBot will be Saturday, March 27 at 3 p.m. PST on Legion M Twitch channel by clicking here.

Other online events include a campaign of the tabletop Wild Cards role-playing game set in the present time. The participants include Melinda Snodgrass, Walter Jon Williams, Max Gladstone, Caroline Specter, and Carrie Vaughn. Williams, one of the original Wild Cards authors, serves as the game master of the short campaign.
Also, there will be a live AMA with the authors and a Discord AMA with special messages from George R.R. Martin over the course of the weekend.
During the WonderCon weekend, there will be testimonials from the Stagecoach Foundation staff and grantees about the celebration of fan culture, storytelling, and the crafting of the worlds of our imaginations.
