Three New Game Of Thrones Spin-Offs Coming to HBO

We have some new details on Game of Thrones spin-offs potentially coming to HBO. We’ve known for a while now that HBO were going to double down on Game of Thrones content. Now a new report from Deadline gives some insight into three potential new shows.

There are already plans we knew about for a Dunk and Egg adaptation, in addition to House of the Dragon which is currently filming. Deadline has got hold of some information on what else is potentially being lined up. Here is what the outlet published.

We hear that HBO is developing a trio of ideas for new projects set within George R.R. Martin’s fictional world. They include 9 Voyages aka Sea Snake, Flea Bottom and 10,000 Ships. Of the three, the Sea Snake project appears to more fully formed, with a creative team on board to develop it including Bruno Heller, while the other two are believed to be ideas that are being explored with no writers attached yet. HBO declined comment.

What These Shows Are

Here is what to expect based what Deadline reported themselves.

The 9 Voyages series refers to the great voyages at sea made by Corlys Velaryon aboard the Sea Snake ship. Velaryon journeyed to places including Pentos, Dragonstone and around the bottom of Westeros as well as to Lys, Tyrosh and Myr. He reached the fabled lands of Yi Ti and Leng, whose wealth doubled that of the House Velaryon, and him and the Ice Wolf headed north searching for passage around the top of Westeros, only to find frozen seas and icebergs as big as mountains.

The outlet also notes that Bruno Heller is involved with this show alongside creator George R. R. Martin.

The Flea Bottom show has less detail around it. However it appears to be a show set away from the high Lords and rulers of Kings Landing. Focusing on the poor district of Flea Bottom. Flea Bottom was place where characters such as Davos and Gendry from the main series grew up. Davos described Flea Bottom as the worst place in the world to be. I’ve already heard some fans dismiss this as potentially boring. However, was Goodfella’s boring? I think you can see where I am going here, just because nothing Earth shattering happens doesn’t equate to boring. The show could deal with a life and death where there is no one to help you but yourself. A dog eat dog world filled with crime and the problems it causes.

The third show is described by Deadline below.

Lastly, there is a show based around the 10,000 Ships, a reference to the journey made by warrior queen Princess Nymeria and the surviving members of the Rhoynars, who travelled from Essos to Dorne following their defeat by the Valyrian Freehold in the Second Spice War. This migration took place around 1,000 years before the events depicted in the A Song of Ice and Fire novels. Arya Stark, played by Maisie Williams, named her direwolf after Nymeria.

I don’t want to get too much onto my theories of where this all could be going till we get some confirmation. After all, Blood Moon went to pilot and then was never picked up for series. However I have a feeling that all of these shows could be set around the same timeline and that would mean potential interconnectivity.

What do you think of the Game of Thrones spin-offs potentially coming to HBO? Leave any thoughts below as always.
