Gettysburg Review & Discussion: A Historical Drama That Dives Deep Into America, Soldiers, And Reasons To Fight | GV’s BattleWorld Podcast
Welcome to The Genreverse’s BattleWorld Podcast, where we discuss our favorite war movies. Every month, for now, Kyle, Cam, and Shockey will take turns picking movies to discuss. The three hosts are all dedicated film buffs but each brings a unique point of view to the War Movie genre. Kyle served 17 years in the United States Army with three tours in the Middle East, Shockey is a History Teacher, and Cam has worked within productions in addition to being a top-tier Armchair-Historian. Don’t laugh at that, they’re usually the smartest ones as they’ve not be “tainted” by having to do things the academia way. Regardless of who you are or why you are here, welcome to BattleWorld.
Across five bloody Aprils in the 1860’s, The United States of America fought a war against itself (in the form of a failed secession by the 13 states calling themselves the Confederate States of America) and changed the face of warfare forever. The American Civil War came at a time of telegraphs and early photography, and with that came worldwide reporting and interest. Then, one summer in 1863, a little town called Gettysburg became the turning point of the entire conflict. The 1993 film, Gettysburg, sought to recreate both the feel of the battle and the emotional true stories that ran through the blood-soaked fields. Join the regular GV:BW crew and special guest, Tony Malone, as they break down a 4-hour film in under 2.
