Lord Of The Rings Show Rounds Out Cast For Season 1

Amazon's The Lord of the Rings show

Amazon’s The Lord of the Rings show rounds out cast for Season 1 according to a new report by THR. The as yet untitled Lord of the Rings show is going to be huge and is already massively expensive. The rights to the content of Tolkien’s Second Age alone cost Amazon a small fortune.

The trade reports Charles Edwards (The Crown), Will Fletcher (The Girl Who Fell), Amelie Child-Villiers (The Machine) and newcomer Beau Cassidy have all been cast. There is currently no word on what characters this quartet may be playing. Then, we don’t know that for any of the shows leads either?

It is assumed, but not confirmed that the show will initially begin towards the start of the Second Age of Middle-earth. If so, we should begin in a time of peace, when the world believes the dark threats of the past have gone forever. However, a mysterious stranger called Annatar comes to the Elves bearing gifts of knowledge. Most of the Elves refuse this Annatar, but one welcomes him in and learns to make the fabled Rings of Power.

I won’t go any further than that just now, but the Second Age lasts for a whopping 3441 years. That means Amazon could carry this on for many, many years before getting to the climax.

The characters most familiar to movies fans will likely be Elrond, Galadriel and Celeborn. Other than of course, a certain Sauron himself when he shows up. Elrond and Galdriel have both been recast for this show. Whilst we have no confirmation of who is playing Elrond for certain, we do know that Galadriel is played by Morfydd Clark.

Amazon are doing their best to keep this one as secretive as they can. We may have a while to wait for any official information. Currently the show is not expected to debut until 2022 at least. The production like so many others was delayed due to the COVID pandemic.

Leave any thoughts below as always.
