Apparently, Sony doesn’t know the meeting of the term “dead franchise.” There have been many of them the studio has resurrected in recent years (and many they’ve conjured up out of thin air), but last night, it was revealed that the Ghostbusters would be getting another chance in the limelight under the direction of Jason Reitman, son of Ghostbusters director Ivan Reitman.
What’s more, the film is dated for the summer of 2020, so it would be coming sooner rather than later…but they didn’t mess around. Less than 24 hours after that reveal, we have an official video teaser trailer for the upcoming ghost comedy flick. Yeah, that’s right, a full video one that’s more than just text and music.

Granted, it’s just an atmospheric push-in to a barn. A canvas flaps open to reveal a familiar logo on a familar-looking vehicle. Lighting flashes and we get a “Summer 2020” title. Sure, it’s not MUCH more than a tease that only shows off a logo, but it at least proves that they’ve thrown SOMETHING in front of the cameras. While this isn’t exactly confirmation this will DEFINITELY happen, the fact that they shot a teaser seems to indicate they’re confident in the direction they’re heading.
How do you feel about this new film? Are you happy we’ll be getting something after the failed 2016 reboot or do you think the Ghostbusters should have remained buried? Let us know your thoughts down below!
