The Russo brothers and the rest of their production team have been hard at work now for some time realising both Avengers: Infinity War and its sequel Avengers: Endgame, the former was one of the biggest superhero movies of all time and the latter is likely the most anticipated movie of this and any other recent year.
The decision to shoot both these movies back to back was made quite some time ago and depending on how Endgame is received it may well have turned out for the better from a fan perspective. But what about the production team, do they think it was a good idea to shoot these movies back to back or was there any regrets in this decision?

According to Anthony Russo, they certainly regret the decision now. CinemaBlend recently spoke with some of the production team and here is what Anthony Russo said when asked if they would change anything ow in hindsight as they near the end of this epic shooting schedule.
“We wouldn’t shoot them back-to-back. [Laughs] I think the challenge for all of us was finding the balance between the two films. Because each film is so complex on its own that sometimes considering both of them was a bit overwhelming. So we looked for opportunities in the process to separate the two so that our brains could be fully focused on the narrative. While the films have a connection, as the Marvel films do, they are distinct stories.”
Visual Effects Supervisor Dan DeLeeuw also added to this from Anthony Russo from his point of view working in the post-production team.
“It was interesting because you’re full in post while you’re still shooting the first movie. And then it’s… your brain’s split. Usually you can hold a movie in your head. But now you’re having to hold two movies in your head. And it’s just kind of this schizophrenia thing that starts happening every once in a while.”
It definitely sounds like a tricky challenge, but if Infinity War is anything to judge this pair of films on, then despite the challenges I think the team has done a bang up job so far. Infinity War is one of my favourite films in a long time, so re-watchable, and I have hope Endgame could be even better.
What do you think of the comments made here, would you have accepted perhaps a longer wait for Endgame, or are you quite happy they’ve had to work their socks off to provide the second movie within such a short time frame? Sound off in the usual place below.
