M. Night Shyamalan’s latest film, Glass, is currently in production. After his earlier directorial effort, Split, hit it big with fans and critics alike, they fast tracked the sequel, which is set to hit theaters on early 2019.
Speaking with HeyUGuys, actress Anya Taylor-Joy gave an update on the production and praised the work Shyamalan did on the screenplay.
“It’s all going so well. I think we all are very aware that we’re making something really special, and Night’s done such an incredible job with the script, that we’re all coming in and really elevating our performances every single day. It’s just really fun. I’ve also never really done a movie where I know everyone, and so it’s coming back to a family. Night works with a lot of the same crew, and it’s nice to go back onto a set, and instead of being like, ‘Hi, how are you? It’s nice to meet you,’ it’s just like, ‘Sup?’”
Her words regarding the script are relatively comforting. While Split was great, M. Night Shyamalan has a real hit-or-miss track record with his films, and it would have been a shame for the film to have been terrible in the midst of such a promising career resurgence.
Of course, it’s not like she would have expressed any negative thoughts for the script, but thus far in her relatively short career, she’s done a great job at being discerning with the projects she’s involved with. We can only hope that extends to this as well.
