Yeah, I know. It’s a bit early, isn’t it? Glass, M. Night Shyamalan’s latest film — and the sequel to the films Unbreakable and Split — isn’t set to hit theaters until January 18. However, press has started to see the film around the country, and it looks like there are some social media reactions already starting to bubble up prior to the film’s embargo lift.
Admittedly, I was only able to find a few of these reactions online. By and large, it looks like critics are keeping their thoughts to themselves, which makes sense considering today is when the actual embargo for the film will lift, but all that aside let’s take a look at what these few people are saying. Can Shyamalan actually live up to the hype he’s made for himself? This is, after all, the culmination of a story he said from the very beginning would actually be a trilogy.

Well, I’ll let you see for yourself:
“This is the sequel you’ve been waiting for. Glass f**king rocks. Shyamalan finally returns to form, delivers his best film in a long time. It’s a complete thrill – get ready for this. That’s all I can say for now.”

“Just seen #Glass. It was not wat I expected AT ALL, and this is a HUGE compliment for a movie coming out nowadays. Congrats @MNightShyamalan for this insane trilogy. (And also thank you for accepting the HOSTILE dvd I gave you, I hope you’ll like it!) #Glass #paris”

So yeah. It actually looks like Shyamalan was able to deliver on the promise he gave us all those years ago. Honestly, this kinda baffles me. I love Unbreakable and enjoy Split for the thriller it is, but Shyamalan has a habit of falling short of the hype with his films, and in the mid-2000s to mid-2010s, he wasn’t exactly a pillar of quality.
The fact that he was actually able to overcome all this is absolutely amazing and has me that much more hyped…though I guess I should wait and see what other critics have to say first before I get TOO excited.
The embargo for Glass drops at 4:30 ET today, so keep an eye out for actual first reviews very soon!
